Me, Three

You know when someone says something and it applies to you? You say, "Me, too."

Well, Gavin said that also, until he turned three a few weeks ago. Now his response, "Me, three."

We were in the car the other day and he said something and I agreed with him and said, "me too."

He quickly said, "Mom, you aren't two, your five! Say, 'me five!'"

It was my turn to have Gavin's preschool at my house and we learned about color. I started by giving Gavin and Megan each their own cookie sheet with pipe cleaners and beads. They had to match up the beads with the same color pipe cleaner. They did super good. I figured they may have a hard time because they were all mixed together. Especially Gavin, but he did really good. 

This was Gavin's favorite activity. He even asked later to do it again.

Then I made a color wheel and a bunch of items that they had to glue to the color wheel. Again, they loved it and did really well matching the colors.

After the color wheel, we took pasta that I had previously colored and made rainbows. I think I had too much planned because they didn't really want to finish this activity. Gavin later finished it and Megan took the rest of the supplies home. But I way over planned. I was just having too much fun. 

Happy 3rd Birthday Gavin

This little boy has been excited about having his birthday ever since Spencer had his back in June. And then Danielle had hers in July, Nathan and Evan both in August. He was upset he couldn't just have his birthday.

So when his actual birthday came, he was super excited. He wanted a blue cake that was Lightening McQueen. I made that cake for Spencer here and Nathan here, but it was red. Because Lightening McQueen is supposed to be red, not blue. 

But Gavin really wanted a blue cake, so this is what I came up with. And he loved it, so it was a success.

All the kids gathered round. Even the dog. I can't believe I have a birthday picture with a dog!

Gavin liked blowing out the candles. It took some practice, but he got the hang of it in the end.

He even sung happy birthday to himself. We had donuts for breakfast and I made the kids sing Happy Birthday to Gavin for each donut they had. We were singing that song all day long. Gavin was even singing it to himself while sitting on the toilet!

He has the 3 fingers down, thank to Troy who spent a few minutes in church teaching Gavin.

Gavin thrilled to be opening presents. He got star wars flash lights. Super cool. And cars.

Gavin's favorite food is peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He loves riding his bike to school. He talks nonstop. I think I am his favorite toy because he spends his whole day by my side. He dances to music. He likes doing crafts. He likes helping me cook. He loves Paisley (our dog) who runs from Gavin, and he talks nonstop. Or did I already say that?

Run or Dye 5k

All my children joined me in the Run or Dye 5k. And we had so much fun. I can't wait to do this one again.

My mom even trained for this event. She began back in May to get to where she could walk 3 miles. It was cool having her get up off the couch and train. 

My brother, Eric, and his wife came. Bonnie joined in the race along with my other sister, Dorias. It was a big Bell event and we had a great time. 

This is the beginning of the run, where we waiting our turn to be released. We got a little carried away prematurely with the color, and it was awesome!

Can you tell we were having fun? Spencer was even having a great time.

This is the end of the run, after just being completely colored.

Spencer had a great time, but kept coming up to me and asking if he could just run the thing. He didn't want to walk. There were so many people I didn't want to leave all my other kids and go run with Spencer. I was afraid we would have a hard time hooking up at the end. So I let Spencer and Nathan run to the next 1k and wait for the rest of us to catch up. Then we would run through the color together.

Gavin was a little moody. Or maybe a lot moody. He basically refused to walk which meant he had to be carried. And even then he was squirmy and grumpy. He hadn't worn enclosed shoes all summer long and did not like his tennis shoes. 

Danielle is just about as silly as they come. She loved the 5k and especially the color. Great event for her.

Camie had a great time too. She paired up with my mom. It was Camie's job to make sure my mom didn't get lost. I told my mom it was the other way around.

And here is my mom. Doesn't she look so athletic? I've never seen her dressed like this before. It was so cool! I was so proud of her for coming to this event and having worked the several months prior so she could do it. I think she is going to join us for the Blue Bell 5k.

This is my sister, Dorias. She drove a few hours to join us for the run. It was so fun to have so many from my family come do this color run with us. It was pretty funny the next day when Dorias couldn't get all that purple off her face. 

Danielle having the time of her life. She was paired up with Dorias so she wouldn't get lost. And seriously, I think Dorias had the toughest job.

Gavin. Getting a drink from the super hard "carry" he had to endure. I couldn't believe he refused to walk. Actually, I can. I just didn't expect it. He is such the baby of my kids. I never carried around my other kids like I do this one. I was so thankful that my brother Eric was willing to help carry Gavin.

I sure love this girl. I love seeing her get involved in activities like this and really enjoying them.

Taneal. She had so much fun. She was paired with Nathan and did a great job keeping up with him. She hung out a lot with Bonnie, too. 

Spencer was paired with Eric. Of course because Eric was helping me carry Gavin, I got to stick with this little boy. I loved how Spencer wanted to run the race. He loves being athletic.

Look at all the color on Taneal's arm.

As we were walking to the car, I got these pictures.

And here is the crew in the car. We laid sheets over the seats to prevent getting the color all over the car. It worked pretty well.

Nathan

After the 5k, we all went to IHOP. On our way, Spencer and Nathan were in the backseat and they asked me, "I wonder if there are going to be other colored people at IHOP with us." It was pretty funny.

As we were parking for the color run, I made a comment to the parking attendant that made me laugh inside pretty hard. It was this black lady taking the $$. I asked her, "Are you going to get colored?" She looked at me like she was going to be offended and then just smiled once she realized the event. Made me laugh pretty good.
