This summer I participated in Summer of Seals again. You swim 500 Meters, do as many push-up in 2 minutes, as may sit-ups in 2 mintes, pull-ups till you drop, and then run 1.5 miles.
Here is my team.
Bonnie (my sister), Jana (good friend), Me, Kelly (good friend), and Angela (my sister-in-law)
We also had to do workouts all summer long to earn the team points.
My brother Eric, who moved here about a year ago, participated in the event.
All the kids that came to watch us compete.
Me swimming the 500M. It was tough because the girl behind me needed to pass. I let her pass and then she slowed down. I tried passing her several times and once even ended up on top of her. A couple times I ended up having to stop and stand up while I gave her some space. Made beating last years time a bit of a challange. I think I did about what I did last year.
My brother Eric doing the swim. He looks so relaxed here!
I was able to do 50 pushups.
Here I am beginning the run. Bonnie and Jana finished the swim in about the same time as me, so they got to start the run with me. They, of course, took of on the run and left me in their dust. But that's okay. Running 1.5 miles is kind of hard. I learned when I was training for my half marathon that after about 1/2 mile is when it starts to hurt and you wonder why you even run. But once you get past that first mile, it doesn't hurt so much any more. So running this 1.5 mile was kind of torture. It needs to be longer. That way it can be enjoyed. Just as it is getting good, its over.
These are the members of my family that participated:
Angela, Eric, Bonnie, and me. I LOVE the shirts this year.
This year I took Camie and Taneal with me to watch the event. They were so excited. Camie volunteered to help, so she got a cool orange volunteer shirt. And she loves orange so this is way cool. Taneal watched Bonnie's baby, Sage, while Bonnie competed. So Bonnie snagged Taneal a shirt. And then my mom. She didn't volunteer to help or help with a baby, but she still managed to get a shirt. Angela's brother-in-law was distributing the shirts and my mom went up to him and flashed her smile and asked if she could have one since she had been at the SOS competition that last 3 year. He kindly gave her one, he couldn't resist her smile. And she was happy. Almost like she had gotten away with something dirty. Just makes me laugh.
