So, I found myself kind of lost after sending the kids back to school. I have never been in this situation before. I have Gavin at home, and he is no longer a baby. He is potty trained, doesn't nurse, and knows how to play on his own. I haven't been without a baby in 12 years! And the day before school started, I was released from my church calling as Primary President. I was in that calling for 3 1/2 year. And before that, I was in the Presidency for almost 3 years. A few weeks ago I turned the books over to the new PTO treasurer. I didn't hardly know what to do with myself. The life I had known was gone.
So, when my mom called on the first day of school and asked if I wanted to go to Salt Grass, I knew I had to go. I needed to feel the wind in my hair, the new found freedom of only having a two-year old and no church calling. The no church calling is big. I didn't realize just how much time that took until I wasn't doing it anymore.
And Salt Grass steaks are amazing. Their chocolate cake even better. I was in heaven drinking my Dr. Pepper and enjoying the company and my new freedom.
This is Gavin's new best friend. His cousin, Megan, moved here a few weeks ago. My brother got a job teaching at the High School and Gavin has been loving having a new friend. He adores Megan!
Of course, I don't have the freedom like I thought I would, Gavin still needs help and attention in everything and I am more than happy to help him. And play with him.
I still have my accounting job that takes about 5-10 hours a week (I work from home). We still have our cleaning business that takes about 5 hours a week (My kids all go with me and I put them to work). And I still have to cook for all those hungry kiddos. And the laundry. And the cleaning. And the workouts to make sure my heart stays healthy.
But things are different. Not as intense. I feel a bit more relaxed, able to enjoy the moments I have a little more, not stress about how I am going to fit a million things into my day. Just several thousand things. I'm not worrying about all the things I'm not doing, just able to enjoy what I am doing. I even read a book this week!
